Ah...waking up early every Saturday morning to watch the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon while eating a bowl full of sugary cereal was fun. The animated cartoon was actually well made, had decent story writing (for a cartoon), and fantastic voice acting. I still watch them every few years. Too scary for little kids, but targeted for teens just like the game itself.
This DVD set put out by BCI - A Navarre Corporation Company was terrific.
All 27 episodes, with really nice box, mini-handbook with playable versions of the characters, and beautiful cover on each DVD, plus extras in the DVD.
I am super happy I purchased it when it first came out, because now it is hundreds of dollars if someone is even willing to part with it.
This cartoon not only did well in it's time slot, but it spun up a whole pile of Licensed toys, games, etc. There is a neat "History of Dungeons and Dragons Cartoon" video on YouTube that summarizes how the cartoon got made and it's presense in the 80s.
It's impact has never been forgotten.
In recent years, the cartoon characters were in a Brazilian car commerical, a cameo in a D&D movie, which then of course prompted Hasbro to release new toys at Target, and a new comic book is being created.
